The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

It's baking time! I was emailing this recipe to a friend today and thought I'd share it here as well. It is my go-to Christmas sugar cookie recipe. I like to sub almond extract for the vanilla sometimes. Enjoy!

1 1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs, room temperature
1 t. vanilla
5 cups flour
2 t. baking powder
1 t salt

Cream butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stire in flour, baking powder and salt. Cover and chill one hour or overnight.

Preheat oven to 400. Roll out dough on a floured surface 1/4-1/2" thick. Cut into shapes, and place one inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 6-8 minutes. Cool.
